Leopard Geckos

Hypo-melanistic: These leopards are lacking or have reduced  pattern on the head, tail and body. The color can be Golden Yellow, Tangerine, Pastel or Snow. Hypos are born patterned. Most pattern is lost within the first two - (three sheds).

Tangerines: These geckos are truly orange colored. They can be patterned or spotted. Orange should be present on the body to be called a true 'Tangerine'. If spotting (flecking) of orange is only on the tail it is not a true 'Tangerine'. These are born with orange legs with really nice yellow/orange banding.

1) animal has tangerine at base of tail and/or on 1-4 legs = High yellow with tangerine highlights
2) animal has tangerine anywhere on body, may or may not have characteristics as described in #1 = Tangerine
3) animal has predominantly tangerine/orange colored body bands, or large amounts of tangerine on body = really nice tangerine .

Hypo-melanistic Pastels: These geckos are light passive yellow, with little or no spotting on the head and back.

Melanistic: These Leopards are 75% or more black. Background color can be yellow to almost green/yellow.

Pastel: These have a very passive light yellow background color with normal spotting. These are not lavenders.

Lavender: These are usually well spotted with a very light color of lavender/gray appearing as bands or spots. The background color is very light yellow/white.

Jungle: These are any non-banded Leopard gecko; circle backs (there may be one or more circles), partial stripes, tear drops and any other variation from the norm. These have the same high yellow background but the pattern will differ from normal banding. Each gecko will be unique.

High Yellow: This is a term used very loosely for any leopard having an above normal yellow coloring. High yellows are a striking yellow with reduced pattern that turn into spots as they mature. Some may have orange flecking on their tail as adults. The background can range from lemon yellow to golden yellow.

Patternless: Known to the market as "Luecistic"; these Leopards are Pastel or Golden Yellow, lacking any pattern. Some may have orange present on legs and tail.

Snow: (Hypoxanthic) These geckos are black/gray and white. They can vary from heavily spotted to Hypomelanistic (very reduced pattern). These leopards are born black and white banded. These geckos are like the high yellow leopards but instead of a yellow background it is white. The pattern can vary between normal bands and striped. Most will have no yellow but some can get a very light yellowish tint on the legs or on the back, most of which will fade out with age.
