The pictures below are actual photos of my breeders and represent my current & future breeding stock.

Pituophis melanoleucus lodingi

The average size of adult black pines is 5-6 feet. A large stocky snake. Back and belly are uniform (or nearly so) black or dark brown. They range in coloration from an overall black and brown-banded snake to a nearly jet-black animal.
The browner ones retain some of their juvenile pattern on their tails and the anterior is darker. The other extreme of the color range is a nearly solid black animal with only a trace of pattern on the tail. The young can range from appearing indistinguishable from a dark northern pine snake hatchling to being almost solid black. Babies are quite large, and can easily take fuzzy mice for their first meals.

P. m. melanoleucus

These snakes are one of the best pet pine snakes for the beginner.  They can reach up to 7', but are usually a little smaller.

Pituophis m. mugitis

Southern Pines are large and stocky averaging from 48-66 inches. So they require a lot of room. The ground color can range from an off white to ash gray. The blotches are highly variable, from almost invisible in some animals to black, dark tan or almost brick red in others. The Florida Pine Snake is the largest of the eastern Pituophis species. These babies are also quite large, and can easily take fuzzy mice for their first meals as well.
