Lampropeltis m. mexicana

A small-to-medium sized Kingsnake, growing to 24 and 32 inches, though some grow to 36 inches by maturity. More commonly known as "Mex-Mex" – These Kings are fun snakes and not too difficult to care for. They have a great temperament and are easily handled.

Displaying an unusual silver / gray coloration broken up by vibrant reddish orange saddles. Hatchlings have lots of color variation.

Lampropeltis mexicana "thayeri"

These are great snakes for the younger keepers or beginners. They are very mellow tempered and love to be handled. They generally have an excellent disposition and are not as skittish as some of the other colubrids. They will reach a total length of about 4-5 feet. There are 4 color phases: Solid black, Milk snake, Buckskin and Leonis. There is also the peach or orange phase.

Lampropeltis g. splendida

aka: Black Sock Head

The Desert Kingsnake makes a great pet. With regular handling, they are very gentle and docile. Easy to feed and very hardy, the Kingsnake is a favorite for both the beginner and the experienced collector. The Sonoran Desert Kingsnake has overall dark black or brown background coloration with white to yellow crossbars. A powerful constrictor, feeding on other snakes (including rattlesnakes), lizards, birds and small rodents. Can grow to 6.5 feet but more commonly around 3-4 feet.

Lampropeltis m. greeri

These are just fantastically colored and patterned - ash gray with red saddles. They are hardy, relatively non-aggressive, and easy to take care of in captivity. A small to medium sized Kingsnake, usually growing to around two to three feet long. A popular snake for both, the beginner as well as experienced hobbyists.

Lampropeltis pyromelana pyromelana

The Arizona Mountain Kingsnake is also known as the Sonoran Mountain Kingsnake or "Pyro". When properly handled, they can become quite docile and make excellent pets. They are easy to breed and adapt well in captivity, adults can reach 42 inches in length. Displaying rings of white or yellow-white bordered by thin black and wide red sections. The black borders may or may not heavily intrude into the white rings. The coloration is similar to that of the western coral snake (Micruroides euryxanthus).

Lampropeltus getula goini

A larger heavy bodied Kingsnake.  Reaching lengths of 5 to 6 foot long. Extremely variable - the Apalachicola Kingsnake occurs in blotched, banded, striped and patternless phases. Hatchlings have a high degree of orange, which usually fades as the snake approaches adulthood. Big and beautiful no matter what you call them. Occurs in only one area of Florida. Rarely encountered in the wild.

The California Kingsnake reaches approximately 30-70 inches in length. This Kingsnake is a very docile reptile and it is very easy to keep it in captivity. The California Kingsnake varies in its appearance. Having a pattern of alternating black and white bands, and the colors may vary from brown, white, cream, or pale yellow. They are an excellent beginner snake. California Kingsnakes are available in a wide variety of color morphs.
