A
well done book providing detailed information on methods used to find
snakes, when, and tools used. Includes individual species accounts for
the more commonly pursued snakes.
This book is a fun read. Lots of information and ideas are jammed into
its small and easy to read format. It's true value lies in realizing how
much data and information can be collected by getting outside and
enjoying weekends. The book clearly demonstrates that responsible and
intelligent field work can add greatly to the body of scientific data.
Almost all the information in the species accounts is based on data from
the author's field sites in and around Kentucky. Despite the regional
nature of the work, the application of their methods is practical
worldwide.
Snake hunting has become a pastime enjoyed by thousands. What was once
considered a subculture is now recognized as a mainstream interest. The
opportunity to experience snakes first hand in the field and to observe
and photograph them in their native haunts holds great appeal. A SNAKE
HUNTING GUIDE provides the reader with detailed information on how,
when, and where to find snakes. Some of the topics covered include
methods for finding snakes, tools used in snake hunting, and how to
develop and enhance snake hunting sites.
